Chelsea star Hudson-Odoi yet to decide on international future

Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi is yet to decide on switching nationality from England to play for Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

The England-born player is eligible to represent Ghana through his parents.

Various African and Ghanaian reports this week claim the 20-year-old winger has taken a final decision to ditch Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions for the Black Stars.

But according to Sky Sports, Hudson-Odoi is yet to decide on switching allegiance from England to Ghana.

He has made three senior appearances for the Three Lions of England since his debut in 2019.

One more outing will make Odoi permanently tied to Gareth Southgate’s side. And that has been delayed by his snub for the just-ended 2020 Euros.

According to current Fifa rules on nationality switch, the forward is entitled to make a switch to Ghana provided he has not played more than three senior matches for England and all the games had come before he turned 21 (on November 7).

Also, he can only make an application three years after his last appearance for the nation he wishes to change from.

Hudson-Odoi was in Ghana in June for holidays and visited a number of stakeholders, which has intensified speculations of him switching nationality to represent Ghana.
