Burkina Faso will face Cape Verde on Thursday in their second Group A game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) without captain Bertrand Traore.
The Aston Villa winger is among four new positive cases of COVID-19 the Stallions have recorded in their latest PCR testing on Tuesday, January 12.
Coach Kamou Malo, who missed Sunday’s defeat to Cameroon because of COVID-19, confirmed the news in his pre-match conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with the Blue Sharks.
“We have registered 4 cases of COVID-19 in the team including Bertrand Traoré, Dango Ouattara, Saidou Simporé, Soumaila Ouattara.
“That said, we know the issue of Thursday’s game and we are focused to go for the result despite their absence.”
The four affected players will miss tomorrow’s game against Cape Verde and possibly Monday’s final group game against Ethiopia.
